Are you and your kids ready for a fun day in the country, hanging out with barnyard animals and enjoying some fresh air?
Then you need to mark your calendars and plan to join Go West Young Mom and the St. Charles Park District for a FREE “Party on the Farm” on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Primrose Farm!
Primrose Farm is located on more than 100 acres in northwest St. Charles, about 2.5 miles west of Randall Road, and it is owned and operated by the St. Charles Park District.
While the farm dates back to 1860, it has been revived to operate as a farm would have in Kane County in the 1930s. Primrose Farm grounds are open every day from dawn to dusk, weather permitting. Admission is free, although there are a number of special activities and seasonal programs you can register for.
The Go West Party at Primrose Farm will be totally free, and we’ll have lots of fun activities including:
- Tractor-Drawn Wagon Rides (every 15-20 minutes)
- Self-Guided Farm Tours
- Farm Animal Meet & Greet
- Old-Fashioned Games
- ‘Cow Washing’ Station
- Farm Craft Station
- Corn Sensory Boxes
- And More!
There will also be a milking demonstration at 10 a.m. sharp (those cows can’t wait!) and the first 100 people will receive a “goodie bag” with coupons for drop-in programs and some cute stuff for the kids. The adults will have time to socialize and make some new connections while the children get a taste of what it would have been like to grow up on a farm 80 years ago.
While the event is free, it will really help us with planning if you can RSVP to let us know you are coming! You can head over to our Facebook event to let us know you are joining us.
Note that in the event of severe inclement weather, we will reschedule for Tuesday, Aug. 15. Cancelations or delays will be posted to the Facebook page of Go West Young Mom and Primrose Farm, but we’re hoping for a sunny day and clear skies!
