The Weekend Spotlight is brought to you by the Earth Day & Recycling Extravaganza being held Saturday, April 22 in downtown Glen Ellyn in the lot at Duane and Lorraine.
The Glen Ellyn Park District, the Glen Ellyn Library, the Village’s Environmental Commission and local businesses are joining together for a morning of activities celebrating Earth Day. The Annual Recycling Extravaganza will take place in the western half of the Duane/Lorraine parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In the eastern half of the parking lot, local vendors and groups will showcase their services and goods, such as native plants and rain barrels. There will also be live acoustic music, food and drinks to purchase and your family can add your artistic touch to a mural that’s being created for the French Market.
At 10 a.m., the library will offer a presentation on native plants, and at 11 a.m. a family storytime. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., children can make an Earth Day craft. This is a free event and no registration is required. You can find more info here, including a detailed list of the wide range of items that will be accepted for recycling.
