Are your kids ready to run? The Glen Ellyn Park District is hosting its third annual 2K for Kids Fun Run on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Newton Park in Glen Ellyn.
At approximately 1.25 miles, this race is designed for kids of all ages. At every quarter mile, participants will compete against each other in fun and exciting age-appropriate challenges. Participants will be timed, and prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place runners in each age and gender group. Age groups include: 4-5 year olds, 6-7 year olds, and 8-10 year olds.
The deadline to register is Friday, July 21, and only 125 races will be accepted. The entry fee includes a timing bib, t-shirt and post-race snacks. Find more info here.

Movie Night at Cantigny
Wheaton: Cantigny Park will be hosting an outdoor showing of the animated hit “LEGO Batman Movie” at dusk on Friday night.

Rolling on the River
Naperville: The Naperville Park District’s Rollin’ on the River concert series continues on Friday with a performance by Julia Roskopf at the RIverwalk Free Speech Pavilion.

Movie Night in Aurora
Aurora: Phillips Park in Aurora is about halfway through its outdoor movie series. On Saturday, it will show the live-action film “Monster Trucks” at dusk. Prior to the movie, there will be family activities including music, dancing and giveaways. Concession stands will be open; bring your chairs, blankets and bug spray!

Mini Makers Day
Naperville: Naper Settlement is continuing its “Mini Makers’ series with a focus on folk arts and crafts on Sunday. Families can participate in hands-on folk art and craft activities, watch live demonstrations and converse with expert folk artists and craftspeople. Between 2 and 3:30 p.m., the first 300 guests will be treated to free ice cream from Colonial Café.

Cost: Naperville residents and members are free, but everyone else is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for youth (ages 4-12.)
Family Days at Danada
Wheaton: Danada Equestrian Center is now hosting specially themed Family Days. These fun-filled equine activity days may include painting demonstrations by Nick the painting horse, self-guided barn tours, tractor-drawn hayrides, up-close-and-personal visits with the Danada herd of horses and more. The first one, being held Sunday night, will feature a full-moon hayride. Registration is not required, and there’s free parking and admission.

Summer Concert Series
Wheaton: Cantigny Park is featuring outdoor musical concerts several times a week this summer, and on Sunday, the band Petty Cash will play. If you didn’t get from the name, be prepared to hear a lot of Johnny Cash and Tom Petty music!
