Family Fun Night
NAPERVILLE: Family Fun Friday Nights at the DuPage Children’s Museum are designed to give busy families the opportunity to take advantage of its extended hours on Fridays during the school year. The Museum is open until 8 p.m., and visitors can enjoy a full museum experience with the whole family, including a special activity or performance on most Friday nights. This week features a musical performance at 6 p.m. from Washington Junior High School in Naperville.

AURORA: First Fridays in Downtown Aurora invites the community to enjoy art, music, food, theater, and more on the first Friday of the month. All events are free and art is for sale. It’s the only evening that SciTech Hands on Museum in downtown offers free admission (from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and special activities for families. The Aurora Regional Fire Museum is another good option, check out its new Children’s Discovery Room! Finally, the February edition of Friday Fridays is kicking off “Party On! 25 Years of Wayne’s World,” a six-month-long celebration of the anniversary of the movie, which was set in Aurora.

ELGIN: The Marcus Theatres movie chain is presenting a “Disney Enchanted Tales” series on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in February. Up first in the lineup is the massive hit musical “Frozen.”

Wonders of Winter
OAK BROOK: Enjoy horse-drawn hayrides, ice fishing and snowshoeing at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s “Wonders of Winter” open house on Saturday at Mayslake Peabody Estate. Help cut ice from the lake and meet live birds of prey from Willowbrook Wildlife Center’s raptor-education program. Warm up around an open fire while making s’mores and then step inside Mayslake Hall for games, crafts and exploration of the historic building. Other event activities include archery and geocaching.
