Dates: The festival begins on Thursday, August 3, and continues through Sunday, August 6.
Cost: The festival is free with the exception of the carnival area which is $5 (only after 5 p.m. for those 11 years and older)
Summer Nights at Brookfield Zoo
Brookfield: You only have two weekends left to catch Summer Nights at Brookfield Zoo, during which the zoo is open late, there are live musical and children’s performances plus special concessions and roaming entertainers.

Cost: Children under 3: Free. Children 3-11: $11.95. Adults: $16.95. Seniors 65+: $11.95.
Various: This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of the Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show, and your family has several chances to catch the fun. On Friday, the lights and sirens parade will travel through North Aurora, Aurora and Montgomery. On Saturday, the show is in downtown Oswego and on Sunday, in downtown Naperville.

Movie in the Park at Cantigny
Wheaton: Cantigny Park will be hosting an outdoor showing of “A Dog’s Purpose” (the story of one devoted dog who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love) at dusk on Friday night.
Date: Friday, August 4, with the movie starting at about 8:30 p.m. Event details here.

North Aurora Days
North Aurora: The community festival, North Aurora Days, takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at several locations. It features a city-wide garage sale, used book sale, an emergency lights and siren parade on Friday night, fireworks on Saturday night and more.

Fun at Arlington Park
Arlington Heights: Sundays in the summer are a “Family Day Sundays” at Arlington International Racetrack in Arlington Heights. The “Junior Jockey Zone” will feature pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, magician, juggler and hands-on activities.
