Pirate’s Cove is a children’s theme park, owned and operated by the Elk Grove Park District, that offers rides, activities and entertainment for younger kids.
Lippold Park, located just north of the Red Oak Nature Center, is currently undergoing renovations to turn it into an “outdoor educational venue.” But with a nature-based playground and great access to the Fox River, it’s already worth a visit!

The Kane County Forest Preserve offers a number of free or low-cost programs for children and families at spots including St. Charles, Elburn, Hampshire and Elgin. These programs aren’t listed on the Go West Calendar because they require advance registration, but they are easy to register for.
