Pools Open Through Labor Day in Chicago’s Suburbs

Monday, Aug 28th, 2017 by

The kids are heading back into school, but but that doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chances to swim in public pools in Chicago’s far western suburbs. There are plenty of pools still open — weather permitting — through Labor Day, although some may have certain amenities or areas closed if they don’t have enough lifeguards to staff them. As always, we strive for accuracy here at Go West, but please, please do doublecheck the hours on these pools’ websites (or better yet, call the phone numbers provided) to make sure they are open before you head out.

Sunset Pool in Geneva:

Starting with Aug. 23, the first day of school for Geneva kids, this pool will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. It will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on weekends. On the last day of the season, Labor Day — Monday, September 4 — it will be open from noon to 6 p.m.  Call 630-232-4542 to doublecheck the hours.

Otter Cove Aquatic Park in St. Charles:

It will also be open on Friday, Sept. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closing day is Monday, Sept. 4, when it will be open 11:30 a.m to 6 p.m. However, note that the splash park portion of this complex will be open on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an admission price of $3 for residents, $4 for non-residents. This is a great option for little ones! Because of pool staff returning to school, it is possible that portions of Otter Cove will be closed on certain days.
