One of the things all the parks in the Great Parks! series have in common is that all of them have a bathroom (or at least a port-a-potty) that is close by. The idea behind this is that it’s hard to spend a long time at a park with a small child when there isn’t a place for bathroom breaks. But that also means there are some great smaller parks that don’t get put on the list.
So that’s where the new Great Stops! series comes from; the parks we’ll be highlighting in this series are smaller, but still worth the trip! Most of these are located in a spot where you could combine a stop with a series of errands, or maybe you just want to make a quick stop to enjoy a picnic during nice weather.
First up is the Chicago Prime Outlets in Aurora, which might be a little surprising. When they did all of the recent construction on the outlet mall they added a small play area that’s the perfect stop for a break when you’re shopping.
The park is located on the outer edge of the mall closest to Interstate 88, it’s near the Saks Fifth Ave Off 5th store, right in front of M Burger.
It’s fairly small and I could see it getting pretty busy on a weekend, but it wasn’t bad when we went on a warm Friday afternoon. There are benches to sit on and take a little break while your kids burn off some energy.
