My daughter really, really loves the Aurora Public Library Santori branch so it’s hard to convince her to go to other libraries. I heard the Sugar Grove Public Library had a nice children’s area and it’s only a 10-minute drive from our house (only five minutes from Blackberry Farm) so we stopped by one morning.
The Sugar Grove Public Library is located in a building less than 10 years old at 125 S. Municipal Drive in Sugar Grove; make sure to doublecheck the hours yourself, but currently the library is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on Fridays.
The Sugar Grove Public Library is a great place for your kids to play and has the added benefit of having a coffee shop inside. Modest Coffee is a locally owned shop that serves coffee, food, and ice cream from Grahams in Geneva. I love when a library lets me have coffee in there and it’s even better when they’ll sell it to me there!
There’s a lot of places to sit and quiet activities for kids. They have board games and puzzles available, coloring sheets, trains, Lego blocks, and plenty of spaces to sit and read.
Whenever a library has computers or iPads available, my children are always drawn to those, so I’m glad when a library doesn’t have them out.
It’s a really nice library to stop by and spend an afternoon. We first went on a hot afternoon to escape into air conditioning for a bit, but the building is so bright and airy that it’s a great spot to visit when the weather is frigid and you just need to get out of the house to improve your mood, too!
Plus, how cool is this little castle?
