Giveaway: Two Tickets to ‘West Side Story’ at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora

Wednesday, Mar 16th, 2016 by

Updated on March 25: Congrats to Jen Pfeiffer, who said she’d love to see “Wicked” performed at the Paramount. (Me too, Jen!) She’ll be getting two tickets to see “West Side Story” at the Paramount. Look for the theater to announce its 2016-17 lineup on March 28. Thanks to everyone who commented and thanks to the Paramount for making this giveaway possible!

Some consider “West Side Story” to be the greatest love story ever told in a musical. It certainly has some of the most memorable music — gorgeous ballads like “Maria” and “Somewhere,” uptempo dance tunes like “America” and the comic “Gee Officer Krupke.”

Paramount-WestSideStory-horizontalNow you have a chance to hear that gorgeous music live — at the Paramount Theatre’s production of “West Side Story,” opening March 16 and running through April 24. One lucky Go West reader will even win two tickets to see a “West Side Story” performance of his or her choice! I will tell you how to enter the giveaway in a moment, but first a bit about this show.

“West Side Story” is based on Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” but set in a neighborhood in New York City where two gangs, one white, one Puerto Rican, battle over turf. The original Broadway musical, which opened in 1957, featured music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and choreography by Jerome Robbins. A film adaptation a few years later won 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. This production will close out the 2015-16 Broadway Series for the Paramount, which also featured “Oklahoma!” “Hairspray” and “A Christmas Story.”

Tickets for “West Side Story” range from $41 to $56 and can be purchased via ParamountAurora.com, by calling 630-896-6666 or by visiting the Paramount box office Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and two hours prior to evening performances. “West Side Story,” is rated PG, and parental guidance is suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children, but this classic musical — so focused on the suddenness and romance of young love — would likely be a hit with teenagers.

There will be one winner of this Go West Giveaway, and the winner will receive two tickets to a show of her choice, a value of at least $82.

The giveaway starts now and ends Tuesday, March 22, at noon Central time.

Have been listening to songs from it on Pandora and it would be fun to see it live.
