Designed for kids ages 5-12, these free, hands-on workshops occur monthly on the first Saturday of every month at Home Depot stores. They are a drop-in activity, and supplies are available from 9 a.m. to noon. In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates’ aprons, a commemorative pin and certificate of achievement.

For more info, including the project for this month, please visit www.homedepot.com/workshops and click on “Kids Workshops” or call the phone number at your local store below.

Note: I talked to an associate at the Geneva Home Depot recently, and she said these workshops are very popular, so the closer you can get there to 9 a.m. the better. Sometimes, she warned, the stores do run out of kits. Also, the Home Depot website now asks you to register in advance so that the stores can better plan on the craft kit quantities needed. But again, a Geneva associate said that you can still just show up for the workshops. (This as of May 2014.)
