One of the bright spots of winter is the “Father-Daughter” and “Mother-Son” dances and events offered by many of the area park districts. We’ll bring you a list of “Mother-Son” events soon, but first, a list of the “Daddy-Daughter” dances. Many of these dances sell out in advance, so if you are interested, make sure to register soon. The following list is in roughly chronological order. Know of one we missed? BATAVIA: The Batavia Park District hosts a “Daddy/Daughter Date Night” on Friday, Feb. 3, at Rotolo Middle School. This is aimed at girls ages 3-12, and there will be entertainment, dessert, dancing, guessing games and photographs. The price is $30 per couple, with additional daughters $15 each. NAPERVILLE: The Naperville Park District sponsors a “Daddy/Daughter Winter Luau” on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Ranch View School. The fee is $15 per resident, $22 for each non-resident. It is aimed at girls ages 3 and up. Couples are encouraged to wear tropical attire. OSWEGO, OLDER GIRLS: The Oswegoland Park District offers two events, for two different age groups. The event for older girls is called “Daddy Dinner Dance” and it is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Civi Center. Girls (ages 6 and up) will enjoy a dinner and then get to dancing. The event will feature a “dance off,” and everyone will go home with a silent auction prize. SANDWICH: The Daddy Daughter Dinner Dance in Sandwich will feature a red carpet entry at the Fox Valley Community Center, door prizes, dancing, contests and raffles. The cost is $28 for residents or $33 for non-residents per person. Find more info on Page 2 of the winter activity guide.

GLEN ELLYN: The Glen Ellyn Park District’s Daddy Daughter Dance is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be dancing, laughing and a make-your-own ice cream sundae station, plus girls can get complimentary hair and nail treatments at a “Glitzy Girlz” glam station. This is aimed at girls ages 3 through 10, and the registration deadline is Feb. 1. The fee is $37 per couple for residents, or $55 per couple for non-residents. Find more info here.

 

OSWEGO, YOUNGER GIRLS: The Oswegoland Park District offers two events, for two different age groups. The event for younger girls is called “Daddies, Dance and Doughnuts,” and it will be held at the Civic Center  on the morning of Saturday, Feb. 11. (Three hour-long events are offered.)  It is designed for girls ages 2 through 5. The event will feature music, and the girls will decorate treats with their dads. SOUTH ELGIN: The village of South Elgin hosts a “Daddy Daughter Princess Ball” on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Corron Elementary School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. This event is for girls ages 3 through 12 years old. There will be snack foods, dessert and dancing. There will be a photo booth on site. No registration info has been posted yet, but last year, the cost was $35 for a pair of residents, or $40 for a pair of non-residents. Each additional child was $10. ELGIN: The city of Elgin hosts a “Daddy Daughter Dance” on Friday, Feb. 17, and again on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Centre’s Heritage Ballroom in downtown Elgin. The event will feature a buffet dinner, dancing and raffles prizes. Tickets are $35 per resident couple, $40 per non-resident couple and $10 per additional child. GENEVA: The Geneva Park District hosts a “Just Dad ‘n’ Me Dance” on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Geneva High School. The event features dancing, entertainment and refreshments from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person for residents or $15 per person for non-residents. Fathers and daughters must register individually; included in the evening is a keepsake photo. Note that the park district stresses this event is open to uncles, grandfathers and step-dads, too! Friday, February 24

 

WHEATON: The Wheaton Park District sponsors a “Daddy Daughter Princess Ball” on Friday, Feb. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Center. Guests will enjoy music, dancing, craft projects, a sundae bar and a surprise visit. Commemorative photos taken during the first hour. The dance is for girls ages 4 through 10. ST. CHARLES: The St. Charles Park District offers two “Daddy & Daughter Dances,” one on Saturday, March 4, and the other on Saturday, March 11. Both will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Pottawatomie Community Center. The events are for girls ages 3 and older. Fee is $16 per person for residents and $24 per person for non-residents. The event is for girls ages 2 and up and runs from 5 p.m to 7:30 p.m. It includes dinner and dancing and complimentary photos. The fee is $13 per resident, $16 per non-resident.
